More than just a dance class. more like a dance family.

At the Rochester School of Dance we know that when you enrol your child into a dance class you want them to gain confidence, meet new friends and have fun. We want this for them too. That’s why all our lessons are professionally designed to be positive and supportive to ensure your child thrives in class and always leaves feeling proud, talented and energised.

What we do

The Rochester School of Dance provide outstanding dance lessons in ballet, modern, tap and street dance for children aged 2.5 – 18 years.  We have lessons throughout the week and at the weekend in various locations across Rochester.

Children aged 6 years + have the opportunity to work towards the ISTD graded examinations.

All children, from our pre-schoolers to our senior dancers, have the opportunity to perform on stage in our yearly theatrical shows held at the Central Theatre in Chatham.

DISCOVER THE CURRICULUM AND PROGRAMMES WE TEACH

The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards.  All our ballet, tap and modern lessons for children age 6 years + follow the ISTD curriculum and children have the opportunity to work towards their graded examinations.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body conditioning and strengthening program used by ballet companies and ballet schools across the world.  Director, Samantha Nicholson is a level 2 PBT certified teacher.  We offer a weekly PBT lesson for those students wanting to deepen their ballet technique.  PBT exercises and theories are taught in all our ballet lessons.

Dancely is a brand new program dedicated to younger dancers.  The dance routines are fun and funky and are a sure way to get your little one moving, bopping and most importantly, having fun.   Dancely features original music from award winning song writers at Disney, Netflix and Marvel.  We offer weekly Dancely classes for children in pre-school, Reception and Year 1.

Our ballet lessons for our youngest dancers (pre-school, reception and year 1) follow the unique ballet programme, Happily Ever Ballet which was created by Director, Samantha Nicholson.  These story-led classes take our youngest dancers on a different fairy tale adventure every term and teach the foundations of classical ballet, movement and artistry.  The story, inspiring music and props will keep your little one captivated and enthralled.

What our Dance Family has to say

“My daughters have been dancing with Miss Samantha for the past 8 years. Miss Samantha is an outstanding teacher. My girls have grown so much in confidence since dancing and absolutely love their dance lessons each week. They have had the opportunity to do exams in ballet, tap and modern, as well as many shows at The Brook Theatre, which they really love. Through dancing they have made some great friendships too. I couldn’t recommend Rochester School of Dance more highly.”
